JOB SUMMARY:  

To assist in providing opportunities for children to gain a sense of mastery, through play and learning experiences, and encouraging family and peer interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Routinely provides age appropriate care for various age groups.
  • Facilitates planned and spontaneous activity.
  • Encourages socialization and interaction between patients
  • Encourages caregiver involvement in patient daily activities by extending invitations to activity rooms and informing caregivers of resources available.
  • Delivers developmentally appropriate toys/activities to patients’ rooms as requested by Child Life Specialist, Nursing, or self-referrals.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and well organized activity room environment.
  • Assesses inventory of supplies, restocks daily, and reports supplies that need to be ordered as needed and evidenced by appropriate supplies levels.
  • Safely assists patients to and from activity room/special events.
  • Trains and provides ongoing supervision of volunteers in activity rooms.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school or equivalent and one year related experience. 

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard hospital and office environments. 

OTHER:
