JOB SUMMARY: Prepares documents for scanning into the Epic EMR. Manually indexes documents per established HIM policies. Verifies data integrity. Coordinates document data with the Master Patient Index as needed for correct patient identification.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Monitor the queue of batches through the prepping process. Perform daily maintenance of scanner Calibrate the scanner for proper image quality Determine the readiness of the batch for quality control purposes. Review each image in the batch and verify Monitor the manual indexing of image error documents Prioritize the error batches in the scan queue Review rescans to confirm image quality, appropriate order/orientation, proper indexing, document type, etc. Confirm patient name, medical record number, and account number (when available) on every page in the batch. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent with GED
EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. Strong computer skills Good verbal, written, and computer communication skills Good hand / eye coordination Ability to lift / push 50 pounds
OTHER: Ability to perform job function and make decisions without direct supervision Detail oriented Ability to interact with customers Knowledge of medical record format and content for all patient types Ability to review record and verify patient identification
