Job Summary:

To provide patient care and technical skills in the operation of diagnostic radiographic equipment for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

• Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.
• Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education. (See attached age-specific addendum.)
• Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
• Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
• Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
• Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care.
• Participates in research projects.
• Instructs students on clinical radiographic skills.
• Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Associates degree or radiologic graduate from an accredited radiography program, ARRT registered or registry eligible and TDH certified.

Equipment: 

Standard radiology and office equipment.

New graduates with no experience or certification may be hired. However, these incumbents will be brought in at two steps below base. When the employee successfully completes one year as a radiographer and is ARRT registered, the employee will be brought up to minimum wage. 

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
