Job Summary:
To provide technical skills in therapeutic and clinical educational programs within the Department of Occupational Therapy.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Administer occupational therapy treatment appropriate to the age, culture, and developmental needs of the person served. (See attached Unit Addendum)

Document reports of clinical observations and treatments in medical record.

Communicates to patients, peers, family members, students, and team members regarding occupational therapy related information.

Attends/represents occupational therapy related information.
-
Participates in discharge planning and goal setting.
-
Provides/assists with supervision of OT Assistant field work students.
-
Delegates and monitors service delivery by support personnel.
-
Participates and assists with the implementation of new programs.
-
Assists in presentations/workshops/in-services.
-
Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Associates degree or equivalent. Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Current licensure or eligible for license and or eligible for license and or Certification in the State of Texas. No experience required.
Equipment:
Standard occupational therapy equipment.
Working Environment:

Standard clinical environment.

May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients.

Alertness and careful attention to detail are required to avoid injury.

Must be able to work under stress and be emotionally capable of coping with complex and/or changing situations.

qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
