Job Summary:
Provides therapeutic recreation treatment and activities to referred patients. Serves as a patient advocate; meets legal, ethical, and institutional standards; and adheres to the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures of the department and organization. Reports directly to the team leader.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Directs, instructs, and monitors recreational therapists and therapy interns in the delivery of planned recreational activities.

Organizes individual and group activities related to singing, drama, sports, painting, drawing, and other recreational activities for mentally and/or physically disabled patients.

Assesses needs and capabilities of patients and plans appropriate recreational programs.

Recognizes patient care priorities, nursing care and multidisciplinary treatment plans, potential patient care crises, and short and long-term objectives.

Evaluates patient's progress related to individualized and group therapy programs.

Makes recommendations for change in overall recreational therapy programs as determined by patient's requests, assessed needs, patient care priorities, and/or new techniques, skills, or information related to programming and delivery.

Participates in treatment conferences.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field and one year related experience. Certified by the NCTRC as a Recreational Therapist.
Equipment:
Standard recreational therapy equipment and various patient care supplies.
Working Environment:
Standard recreational therapy environment.
Other:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to

Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
