JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide professional support in planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and administering pulmonary care for individuals or groups of patients. 

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: 

  • Assesses the respiratory care needs of patients.
  • Identifies the contraindications and possible complications of patients receiving respiratory care.
  • Initiates, evaluates, and reviews respiratory care plans that reflect a multidisciplinary approach to appropriate preventive action.
  • Sets up and maintains respiratory equipment.
  • Performs blood gas analysis and respiratory function tests.
  • Participates in patient rounds.
  • Maintains patient records and equipment inventory.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

  • Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy, or completion of the associate degree equivalency and successful passage of the NBRC exam.
  • CRTT – Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist eligible.
  • No experience required.

EQUIPMENT: 

Standard respiratory therapy equipment. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Standard respiratory therapy environment.
