JOB SUMMARY:
To provide advanced professional skills in diagnostic evaluation of patients with speech and language impairments and to provide habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administers routine and complex tests on speech and language impaired patients, including patients with high-level acuity of care.

Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language competencies, including assessment of communication skills as related to medical, educational, social, and psychological factors.

Plans, conducts, and directs habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic or inorganic etiology.

Determines need for patient referral to specialist.

Supervises clinical work of support personnel.

Assists in evaluating patient care offered by the Center, assessing areas of need or improvement and making recommendations.

Prepares reports on diagnostic findings, therapy used, and progress made.

Participates in interdisciplinary testing and research projects.

Assists in research related to the development of diagnostic and remedial techniques and design of apparatus.

Provides patient evaluation and treatments, employing techniques consistent with age specific concerns for the following age groups: neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric as defined in position addendum.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in related field and two
years of related experience post CFY or resident year, Certification or eligible
for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the
American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and Licensure or eligible for
Speech Pathology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Standard
speech pathology equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard clinical environment.
