JOB SUMMARY:
To provide professional skills in the comprehensive evaluation of patients with
speech and language impairments and to provide habilitative and rehabilitative
treatment services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administers various routine speech and
language tests and hearing screenings.

Diagnoses disorders by evaluating causes and
test results and assessing speech and language skills as related to
educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.

Treats impairments such as functional
articulatory disorders, stuttering, voice problems, delayed speech, and
organic disorders, including but not limited to cleft palates, cerebral
palsy, aphasia, and impaired hearing.

Instructs patients with functional or
organic speech disorders and their families in appropriate means of
communication.

Writes reports on diagnostic findings,
therapy used, and progress made.

Determines need for referral to specialists.

Provides consultation and guidance services
to patients, other departments, and outside agencies.

Provides patient evaluation and treatments,
employing techniques consistent with age specific concerns for the following
age groups: neonate, adolescent, adult and geriatric as defined in position
addendum.

Adheres to internal controls established for
department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in related field, Certification or eligible for Certificate of
Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American
Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and Licensure or eligible for Speech
Pathology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language
Pathology and Audiology.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard speech pathology equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard clinical environment.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some
