Job Summary:

To provide professional, creative, and recreational experience of therapeutic value for hospitalized and clinic pediatric patients.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Functions as the primary caregiver of the Child Life Program.
  • Interacts with pediatric patients and their family members.
  • Assists patients in maintaining age-appropriate interaction.
  • Responsible for clinical planning, pediatric patient teaching, evaluating patient response, and documentation.
  • Seeks to continue own professional education process and assists with education of members, students, and volunteers as related to the therapeutic care of pediatric patients. 
  • Ensures safe patient care in areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitates communication and professional working relationships with other personnel involved with pediatric patients.
  • Initiates constructive approaches to problem identification and solutions.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Psychology or a related field. No experience required.

Equipment:

Standard office equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard child life therapy environment.
