JOB SUMMARY:
To provide advanced professional skills in audiological diagnosis and evaluation
and to provide habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administers a variety of routine and complex
audiometric tests on hearing impaired patients.

Determines, through testing, patient's
hearing range and the degree, site, and nature of damage to auditory system.

Determines need for patient referral to
specialists.

Plans, conducts, and directs conservation,
habilitative, and rehabilitative programs.

Supervises clinical work of support
personnel.

Assists in evaluating patient care offered
by the Center, assessing areas of need or improvement and making
recommendations.

Instructs and demonstrates testing
procedures and therapy treatments to clinic personnel, medical students, and
residents.

Provides consultation and guidance services
to patients and other departments.

Participates in interdisciplinary testing
and research projects.

Prepares reports on diagnostic findings,
treatment used, and patient's progress made.

Provides patient evaluation and treatments,
employing techniques consistent with age specific concerns for the following
age groups: neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric as defined in position
addendum.

Adheres to internal controls established for
department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Audiology and three years of
experience, Certification or eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competency in
Audiology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and
Licensure or eligible for Audiology License
from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and
Audiology.
EQUIPMENT:
Various audiometric testing devices, rehabilitative devices, and electro
acoustic instrumentation.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard clinical environment.
