JOB SUMMARY:
To provide comprehensive audiological diagnosis and evaluation and to initiate
and conduct habilitative and rehabilitative treatment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administers a variety of routine audiometric
tests designed to determine patient's hearing range and the degree, site,
and nature of damage to auditory system.

Differentiates between organic and inorganic
hearing disabilities by evaluation of total response pattern and use of
acoustic tests.

Coordinates audiometric results with other
diagnostic data, such as medical, educational, social, and behavioral
information.

Assists in planning and participates in
conservation, habilitative, and rehabilitative programs, including hearing
aid selection and orientation, counseling, guidance, auditory training,
speech reading, and speech conservation.

Writes reports on diagnostic findings,
treatments used, and patient's progress.

Determines need for referral to specialists.

Provides patient evaluation and treatments,
employing techniques consistent with age specific concerns for the following
age groups: neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric as defined in position
addendum.

Adheres to internal controls established for
department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Audiology, Certification or eligible for Certificate of
Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing
Association, and Licensure or eligible
for Audiology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
EQUIPMENT:
Various audiometric testing devices, rehabilitative devices, and electro
acoustic instrumentation.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:
Standard clinical environment.
OTHER:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some

Any
