Job Summary:

To provide for the development and management of the Tumor Registry operation consistent with standards outlined by the American College of Surgeons.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Establishes procedures for case finding, abstracting, and follow-up of all cancer patients seen at UTMB and abstract new cases into database.
  • Establishes and maintains quality control of case finding, abstracting, coding, and follow-up procedures.
  • Coordinates cancer program activities including interface of Tumor Registry activities with those of the Cancer Committee, Tumor Board, and Tumor Conference.
  • Assists Cancer Committee in performing short-term and long-term audits/patient care evaluation studies.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

High school or equivalent with RRA, ART or four years experience in Tumor Registry.  Certified Tumor Registrar eligible.

Equipment:

Standard office equipment.
