Job Summary:

To provide professional skills with direct patient contact and physician interaction in the processing and distribution of ambulatory prescriptions and clinical services.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Compounds and dispenses prescribed ambulatory prescriptions with direct patient interaction ensuring compliance with all regulatory agents.
  • Monitors and evaluates patient's drug therapy and communicates evaluation to appropriate patient care team, including any adverse drug reactions and/or interactions.
  • Provides medication counseling to patients and answers drug information queries from health care providers and patients.
  • Participates as a member of the Patient Care Management Team to ensure appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy.
  • Consults with physicians in the management of patient's medication regimen to ensure appropriate cost effective therapy.
  • Manages technical personnel in assisting with the filling of prescriptions.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. No experience required. Current licensure or eligible for state licensure from the State Board of Pharmacy.

Equipment:

Standard pharmaceutical equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard hospital pharmacy environment.

Other: 

Failure to obtain licensure within the probationary period could result in termination.
