Job Summary:
To provide technical and administrative support to the Investigational Drug Service of the Pharmacy.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Assures proper handling of investigational drug inventory including receiving, transferring, and returning study medications in accordance with FDA regulations.

Designs and implements procedures for the set-up of labeling, record keeping, and drug handling required as pharmacy support for conducting clinical trails.

Interacts with study sponsors and investigators on issues regarding on-going studies including assistance with close out meetings to reconcile and dispose of all unused study medications in accordance with FDA regulations.

Performs routine inspections as part of IDS quality assurance of investigational drug handling to assure security, proper storage, complete record keeping, and adherence to protocols.

Prepares investigational drugs per protocol for dispensing to study patients. Preparations include parenteral products, outpatient medications, sterile preparations, and compounding of special preparations for clinical trails.

Performs duties in support of general operations of the pharmacy including drug preparation, delivery, and communication with UTMB staff.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and one year related experience.
Equipment:
Standard pharmaceutical equipment.
Working Environment:
Standard hospital pharmacy environment.
Other:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to

Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
