Job Summary:

To provide the coordination necessary for the establishment and maintenance of a centralized area and an open line of communication between patients and the administrative areas at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Maintains a centralized and consistent patient grievance mechanism.
  • Consults with patients or patients' families in order to identify any sources of difficulty in obtaining services.
  • Communicates any problems to all departments involved and follows through until satisfactory solutions are found.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate departments and services within the hospital.
  • Acts as liaison between hospital administration, and medical and nursing staff, patients and their relatives, and hospital personnel at all levels.
  • Designs, implements, and updates all departmental standards which govern the Patient Relations department.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Associate's degree or equivalent in related field and two years related experience.

Equipment:

Standard office and audiovisual equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard office environment.
