JOB SUMMARY:
The Caseworker serves as an advocate, liaison,
counselor and resource person for an adjusted caseload of offenders who are
physically disabled. This is a highly professional position that works under the
supervision of the Program Manager for Assistive Disability Services for UTMB
Correctional Managed Care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Contribute to the success of UTMB Managed Care Organization.

Interviews patients or clients, their families, and others to obtain social and developmental histories as assigned.

Maintains regular contact with each assigned patient or client to monitor responses to services and identify problem areas.

Obtains information from others in the prison setting about patient or client response to treatment or problem areas in work, custody, school, and leisure activities; reports significant information and recommendations to other treatment team members.

Liaison with Social Services, Classification, and/or Special Needs Parole to track with patient/client release dates and to develop and maintain community return plans to assist the patient's or client's return to his or her community upon release.

Provide group and individual counseling as assigned, especially to provide patients' or clients' with skills necessary for successful adjustment upon release.

Assists assigned patients' or clients' with personal needs - mail, commissary, medical appointments, and prescribed medication, as needed.

Provides case management to ensure that the treatment processes followed for patients and clients; includes tracking with staffing dates, facilitating completion of staffing components and the individual treatment plan, and writing staffing summaries as assigned.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral science
or related field.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:
This position works in a correctional environment and requires security
clearance through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
OTHER:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
