JOB SUMMARY: To provide the administrative and technical skills necessary to manage a major patient service laboratory division. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience. Certification as a Medical Technologist, Cytotechnologist, Histocompatibility Technologist, or Histotechnologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent specialty certification, as appropriate. Qualification as a general supervisor under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments if required to perform essential duties in the laboratory specialty. EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard laboratory environment. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
