Job Summary:

To provide the administrative and technical skills necessary to organize, supervise, and coordinate all functions of a group of laboratory division sections.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Coordinates the assigned workload for the division.
  • Compiles workload statistics.
  • Directs all administrative and laboratory procedures within the sections.
  • Reviews and updates existing test procedures for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Reviews quality of test results, quality control procedures, and proficiency testing for accuracy.
  • Develops protocols and procedures for the sections.
  • Administers personnel policies such as sick leave, vacation, and performance evaluations for division personnel.
  • Coordinates supply needs within the sections.
  • Maintains continuing education programs.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field and four years related experience. Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). OR National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel (NCA) or equivalent specialty certification.

Equipment:

Standard laboratory equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard laboratory environment.
