Job Summary:

To provide the technical skills necessary to organize and perform various medical laboratory procedures.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

• Performs laboratory tests exercising independent judgment and responsibility.
• Operates and performs preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Prepares reagents and indicator solutions.
• Performs quality control tests, making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy.
• Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related field and no experience required. Eligible for certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists OR National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel (NCA) or equivalent specialty certification.

Equipment:

Standard laboratory equipment.
