Job Summary:To provide assistance to staff pathologists and residents in preparation of surgical specimens. Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
Required Education / Experience:Bachelor’s degree in related field. Certified by the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistant; OR, must have a Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate of Medicine plus completion of two years of anatomical pathology residency training. Equipment:Standard pathology equipment. Working Environment:Work performed indoors, standing, walking or sitting at a bench or desk. Hazards include: mechanical, electrical, explosive radiation fume/odor, chemical blood and/or body fluids sharps, toxic waste skin irritants respiratory irritants. Other:Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
