Job Summary:
Assist the Operations Coordinator in the daily management of the Echocardiography Laboratory by acting as a team leader for technical personnel. Under the guidelines set by the Program Manager, provide a technical focal point for echocardiographic services. Perform, teach, train and direct technical aspects of echocardiography.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Acts as a team leader in all day-to-day activities in the non-invasive lab. Provides supervision for performance of all diagnostic testing in the non-invasive laboratories.

Assists in labs as needed. Assist physicians during procedures, as needed.

Evaluate validity of patient data and test results.

Assists with assuring that lab policies, technical procedures, and infection control policies are properly observed. Conforms to safety regulations and implements all procedures to comply with national and local fire and safety standards.

Assists in clinical research protocols as needed, to include proper record keeping, data storage and retrieval for clinical and/or research purposes.

Assists with the collection of statistical data and assists in implementation of total quality management program for Non Invasive Cardiology Services.

Responsible for care and maintenance of echocardiography equipment. Calibrates and/or prepares equipment for use.

Maintains professional competency through participation in educational activities of the department and other related training. Responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art technology by learning advanced new techniques and information systems. Suggests novel approaches in the use of echocardiography in medicine and implements where feasible.

Responsible for participation in the teaching of fellows and junior colleagues, conferences and preceptorship programs as requested.

Communicates professionally with personnel in other laboratories within the division of cardiology and other service areas of the hospital. Interact with patients and families.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
High school or equivalent and three years of clinical experience as a cardiac sonographer. ARDMS certified in Adult Echocardiography or eligible for certification.
Equipment:
Knowledge of all equipment utilized in the Non Invasive Cardiology Services Laboratories.
Working Environment:
Non-invasive cardiology laboratory environment with heavy patient contact.
