JOB SUMMARY: 

Provide supervisory skills necessary for the overall efficient operation of the Sterile Processing Department. 

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: 

• Supervises all activities and personnel performing sterile processing activities.
• Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hiring.
• Recommends promotions and merit increases and has the authority to discipline and recommend termination of employees under supervision.
• Prepares daily staffing and activity schedules and reports.
• Instruct subordinates in procedures and techniques.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

High school or equivalent. Five years experience as a surgical technologist or five years supervisory experience in related field.  Surgical Technologist or sterile processing certification. 

EQUIPMENT: 

Standard sterile processing equipment.  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Standard hospital, clinical and/or sterile processing areas.
