JOB SUMMARY:

To provide advanced technical skills in the preparation of all anesthesia equipment used during surgical and related medical procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in preparing operating rooms for complex anesthesia procedures.
  • Sets up anesthesia equipment.
  • Cleans anesthesia equipment after completion of anesthesia.
  • Maintains inventory records and orders, stores, and distributes anesthesia supplies, drugs and equipment.
  • Assists Anesthesiologists as necessary.
  • Provides immediate supervision for assigned shift.
  • Orients and trains staff.
  • Assists in patient care.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school or equivalent and three years related experience.

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.  Knowledge and skill in the use of equipment necessary for anesthesia procedures in the operating room.  Knowledge of indication and dosages of comments used resuscitative drugs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard operating room, recovery room, intensive care environment, and special procedures areas.  May be exposed to hazards resulting from toxic, explosive and inflammable gases.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
