Job Summary:

Represents UTMB in an academic program area in the recruitment of students for graduate and medical education throughout the state and nationally; liaisons and assists with the admissions processes as needed within the program area.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Organizes and schedules student recruitment activities, participating in college and career fairs, providing information and guidance to students on academic programs within UTMB schools.
  • Assembles and distributes appropriate recruitment materials describing academic programs of a particular school as well as benefits offered by the institution and community.
  • Gives presentations to student groups at the high school and undergraduate college level, faculty, and counselors regarding medical education in areas of allied health sciences, medicine, nursing, and/or biomedical sciences.
  • Initiates efforts to increase the number of under-represented population within the various academic areas, in collaboration with the missions established by the Deans and Associate Deans.
  • Promotes vision and activities of cultural diversity both internally and external to the University. 
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts with the admissions process, giving advice to students, organizing and maintaining admissions materials.
  • Participates as appropriate in admission interviews or in supporting the admissions committees.
  • Establishes and refines recruitment plan, documenting and reporting sources for targeting prospective students, tracking numbers of applicants, and prioritizing academic programs.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and two years of experience.

Equipment: 

Standard office equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard office and/or classroom environment. Extensive travel may be required.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
