Job Summary:Performs responsible
mental health administrative and technical supervisory duties in a designated
region under the administrative direction of the Director or Associate Director
of Mental Health Services. Implements mental health organizational plan at
regional level. Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating of regional
mental health activities under the technical/programmatic supervision of the
Director or Associate Director of Mental Health Services.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Extensive knowledge of mental health programming and administration procedures and applicable national standards (ACA and NCCHC). Extensive knowledge of State and Federal laws related to mental health practice. Knowledge of agency, TDCJ Health Services and Mental Health Services policies and procedures preferred. Extensive skill in directing, coordinating and evaluating mental health staff, problem-solving techniques, and in modern supervisory methods and practices. Extensive skill in professional mental health programs, techniques, methods and practices. Extensive skill in
establishing, coordinating and evaluating mental health service goals,
strategies and objectives, and in developing plans for accomplishing these
goals.
Master’s degree in behavioral science or related field with at least three years of full-time wage earning mental health programming experience, including at least one year of mental health administration. Possession of a valid,
current license as approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners of
Psychologists, Texas State Board of Professional Counselors, or other equivalent
licensing body.
Standard office equipment. Office environment within a mental health correctional facility.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
