 JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide professional counseling and guidance skills for employees, students, patients, and other clients. 

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:  

  • Conducts counseling and/or therapeutic interviews to assist clients in gaining insight into personal, educational, socioeconomic, environmental and related problems.

  • Assists individuals in determining and defining goals and planning action reflecting interests, abilities and needs.

  • Plans and coordinates patient management and discharge with medical team personnel.

  • Confers with the attending physician and social agencies which are interested in the patient to obtain supplementary data.

  • Follows progress of patients post discharge by home visits, direct correspondence, or contacts with public or private welfare agencies.

  • Prepares concise reports upon completion of case.

  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

Master's degree.  No experience required.  Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Texas. 

EQUIPMENT: 

Standard office equipment. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.

OTHER: 

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
