Job Summary:
To provide managerial
functions in supervising the operation and utilization of the Medical Branch
Alumni Field House and Fraternity Facilities.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Supervises Assistant
Manager, desk attendants and building attendants as related to facility
management. Schedules staff to work the evening and week-end shifts.
- Full managerial
responsibilities (hiring, disciplinary actions, employee performance
evaluations, etc.).
- Assists Director with
budget preparation and planning issues.
- Manages and insures
maintenance of swimming pool and related facilities. Responsible for making
daily rounds to monitor swimming pool and spa equipment. Checks gauges and
visually inspects equipment for proper operation.
- Inspects all equipment
and systems five days per week. Ability to diagnose equipment malfunction
and order necessary parts/accomplish repairs.
- Maintains working
knowledge of all equipment. Ability to demonstrate proper use of, and
explain potential hazards associated with exercise equipment.
- Responsible for making
daily rounds to insure Field House is kept clean and exercise equipment is
in working order.
- Insures that only
dues-paying members and their guests, which includes students, faculty,
house staff and employees, are using the Field House facilities.
- Checks out equipment as
requested and accounts for its return.
- Makes reservations and
schedules the use of the handball courts, pool tables, ping-pong tables, and
exercise room as requested by members.
- Maintains a small
change cash fund and makes periodic bank deposits.
- Safeguards equipment,
facilities and supplies.
- Inspects softball
fields/tennis courts and oversees work of contract grounds-keepers.
- Works with UTMB
Physical Plant and department maintenance personnel on regular maintenance
of the building and equipment.
- Performs minor
housekeeping duties.
- Identifies appropriate
internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce
compliance.
- Performs related duties
as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Associate's degree or
equivalent and three years of experience. Pool operator license, CPR/First Aide,
Completion of Defensive Driving
Equipment:
Standard physical fitness equipment.
Working Environment:
- Will be required to
work overtime.
- Exposure to adverse
weather conditions - extreme heat/cold and rain.
- Heavy lifting required:
25 to 50 lbs. frequently; up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Walking: 50 to 75%
time.
- Bending/Stooping/Crouching:
25 to 50% time.
- Climbing: 15% to 20%
time.
- Pushing/Pulling
Objects: 25 to 50% time.
