Job Summary:

To provide professional skills needed in the analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation and modification of medical equipment.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Supervises and performs established technicians' duties.
  • Installs, tests, and determines operating parameters for apparatus.
  • Repairs complex scientific equipment.
  • Safety tests medical equipment and health care facility's structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Documents all work performed on medical equipment.
  • Plans and schedules the work of Biomedical Equipment Technicians.
  • Verifies equipment inspection; keeps accurate records and institutes corrective measures, if needed.
  • Orders special materials and equipment and helps to establish minimum/maximum levels for departmental stock room.
  • Instructs other personnel in the operations and care of scientific apparatus and biomedical equipment.
  • Conducts in-service training for technicians.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree in electronics, biomedical equipment technology and three years of experience. Must have knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology.

Equipment: 

Standard electronic testing equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard electronics environment.
