JOB SUMMARY: Support research and development activities by organizing, directing and participating in projects requiring highly skilled machining fabrication in connection with design, construction, operation, maintenance and repair of scientific or mechanical equipment, adhering to high scientific and engineering standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associates degree, or equivalent training or experience, and three years experience as a journeyman level machinist including experience with machining and fabricating projects with plastics and metal. EQUIPMENT: Standard mechanical / electrical equipment in association with lathes, mills and CNC. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard machine shop environment with safety issues surrounding mechanical and electrical equipment. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
