JOB SUMMARY:
Promote growth of the clinical research program by working directly with
industry and government sponsors and serving as liaison between sponsors and
UTMB faculty; and assist in the management and operations of the Office of
Clinical Research.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Creates new clinical research opportunities
by establishing and maintaining relationships with industry sponsors.
Assists sponsors in identifying UTMB faculty.

Identifies opportunities for sponsored
clinical trials and publicizes those opportunities within the institution.

Strategically targets industry partners who
can provide resources to UTMB’s research program.

Creates, develops and implements innovative
marketing strategies. Designs and creates marketing materials for the Office
of Clinical Research for specific clinical research programs.

Networks with relevant local, state, and
national organizations.

Monitors trends, progress and discoveries
within the pharmaceutical, biotech and health care industries.

Coordinates grant proposal submissions
involving multiple centers and/or investigators.

Works with Research Information Systems
staff in the development of pertinent databases, including a sponsor contact
database, study specific database, investigator database and patient
databases.

Participates in working committees that
develop solutions to problems impeding the conduct of clinical research.

Assists in strategic planning, management,
and execution of clinical trial reporting, financial accounting, and data
collection activities.

Assists in internal budget development;
addressing staff needs; and making operational decisions for the success of
the clinical research business services.

Supervises staff to ensure that performance
standards are communicated, training provided, and problems resolved.

Works with department chairs to identify
strengths (faculty and available patients) related to clinical research.

Encourage faculty and staff at the
Institution and its affiliated hospitals and clinics to participate in
clinical trials.

Orients new, junior, and inexperienced
faculty to the clinical research processes.

Adheres to internal controls and reporting
structure.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree or equivalent and five years related experience, including
substantial clinical research experience, business, marketing, and management
experience
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:
Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment. Travel may be required.
OTHER:
Knowledge of the drug development process and pharmaceutical research, FDA and
HHS regulations and Good Clinical Practices
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
