Job Summary:

Provide the business functions that support a clinical trial program at UTMB. Provide administrative and/or accounting support throughout the startup and closeout stages of the clinical trial.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Initiates the development of “master” agreements with potential sponsors.
  • Follows up on pending agreements and contracts which have not been fully executed by the sponsor.
  • Negotiates contracts and consent forms; obtains all required signatures.
  • Develops and negotiates budgets.
  • Maintains and updates an “Ancillary Services Costs” database; communicates changes in costs to faculty and other study personnel.
  • Acts as liaison with research sponsors and/or with sponsors accounting departments.
  • Prepares reports detailing revenue and expenses, financial forecast reports from patient enrollment numbers and negotiated budget.
  • Prepares invoices based upon milestone completion as reported by research coordinators.
  • Establishes accounts upon receipt of executed agreements and IRB approval; all accounting functions to expedite payments to service provides; check deposits; and account closeouts.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field and two years related experience.

Equipment: 

Standard office equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.
