JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinate the day- to-day activities of the construction process work groups.  Has primary responsibility for all in house construction services.  Responsible for directing the efforts of semi-skilled, skilled and journeyman level craftsmen in carpentry, painting, electrical and other assigned activities.

  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·        Plans, supervises, assigns, schedules, monitors, trains and evaluates the work of construction technicians.

·        Monitors the performance of personnel to achieve optimum safety, reliability, and efficiency in the construction of the facilities. 

·        Keeps current on and recommends changes to operating procedures, new equipment and related systems

·        Responsible for the operating efficiency and reporting activities of work group. 

·        Monitors the collection, review and approval of log sheets and other pertinent data. 

·        Performs detailed inspections of construction sites, personnel activities and facilities as necessary. 

·        Notes and addresses deficiencies in a timely manner. 

·        Determines and recommends most effective method of construction projects. 

·        Responsible to know applicable codes and standards

·        Arranges for the procurement of materials or services.

·        Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies. 

·        Troubleshoots issues, which could require following detailed plans and blue prints.

·        Provides detailed estimates as required.

·        Supervises compliance with standards of workmanship and safety.

·        Trains personnel on construction procedures as required.

  •   Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

 

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree or equivalent and 4 years related experience.

 

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard office environment. 

Exposure to construction environment.

Occasional exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards typical to central plants, and utility distribution systems.

May be required to wear a pager and/or cell phone.

May be required to work extended shifts.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
