JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinate the day to-day activities of the process work groups.  Has responsibility for  supervising operations of the production, distribution, and energy management systems.  Responsible for directing the efforts of specially, skilled craftsmen in the maintenance and repair of specialized equipment and systems of UTMB.

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

• Monitors the performance of personnel to achieve optimum safety, reliability, and efficiency in the maintenance of the facilities. 

• Keeps current on and recommends change to operating procedures, new equipment and related systems. 

• Monitors the collection, review and approval of log sheets and other pertinent data. 

• Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment, personnel activities and plant facilities as necessary. 

• Troubleshoots system problems, which could require following detailed operational and maintenance procedures and reading system blue prints.

• Supervises compliance with standards of workmanship and safety.

• Completes expenditure projections and project plans for fiscal year planning.

• Diagnoses complicated system problems.  Repairs and takes proactive steps to prevent reoccurrence.

• Develops System operating standards

• Stays up to date with national standards and code associated with District energy plant operations

• Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree or equivalent and 3 years related experience.

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office environment. 

Occasional exposure to construction environment.

Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards typical to central plants, and utility distribution systems.

Required to wear a pager and/or cell phone.

May be required to work extended shifts.
