JOB SUMMARY:

Provides highly skilled technical work involving electronic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic control of typical state-of-the-art hospital facilities systems and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment, personnel activities and plant facilities as necessary. Works on HVAC problems in Patients rooms research facilities and animal rooms.

·         Troubleshoots system problems, which could require following detailed operational and maintenance procedures and reading system blue prints.

·         Supervises compliance with standards of workmanship and safety.

·         Interfaces with maintenance staff regarding system issues and maintains appropriate documentation.

·         Installs, troubleshoots and repairs controls and equipment.

·         Reads, draws, and interprets electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and HVAC schematics, one line diagrams and control sequence of operations.

·         Reads, writes and interprets programming in order to diagnose sequence problems. Diagnoses complex control problems. 

·         Programs microprocessors for initial commissioning, tuning control loops and calibration of analog inputs.

·         Must perform functions on live circuits and in operating controls enclosures.

·         Provides expertise to Instrumentation Technicians with knowledge of Siemens, Johnson, and TAC Control Systems.

·         Assists in the training of other technicians. 

·         Maintains and repairs Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) equipment for stack emissions testing. Performs the duties of the Utilities Operations Technician (Operator) in emergency or as needed.

·         Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

 

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field or equivalent, and four years of related experience.  

 

EQUIPMENT:

 Standard office and mechanical/electrical equipment.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Mechanical, electrical and/or office environments.  May be exposed to occupational hazards such as mechanical and electrical equipment.

 

OTHER:

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
