JOB SUMMARY:

To facilitate, lead, and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Landscape Group in their respective areas.  Has a support role for a defined area and customer base.  Provide supervisory skills in planning, organizing and directing the care and maintenance of University grounds. Responsible for the maintenance and general beautification of all grounds, including floral gardens, landscaped areas and rough areas.

  

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

  • Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating and general care of University grounds.

  • Supervises the removal of leaves, grass, dirt and rubbish from grounds.

  • Requisitions and distributes materials and equipment; ensures maintenance programs are effectively integrated with other FOAM, Support Services and UTMB programs.

  • Collaborates with other supervisors to optimize project scheduling and prioritization between areas.

  • Interfaces with landscape maintenance staff regarding performance issues and maintain appropriate documentation.

  • Mentors and provides guidance for staff.

  • Helps develop and manage landscape maintenance area budget.

  • Helps develop and manage implementation of landscape maintenance strategy for assigned area.

  • Helps in problem solving using advanced expertise and experience.

  • Works closely with other maintenance personnel to integrate UTMB facilities management programs.

  • Continually facilitates review and improvement of process maps.

  • Provides decision support as needed.

  • Completes performance appraisals.

  • Aligns staff with workloads and schedules.

  • Interface with Manager, customer and staff as needed.

  • Understands landscape maintenance process maps.

  • Monitors internal workflow and work order system and looks for improvement opportunities.

  • Supports work group development.

  • Assists in trouble-shooting and problem solving.

  • Meets regularly with work group members to ensure solid 2-way line of communication.

  • Monitors safety action of Landscape Operations Technicians.

  • Monitors the CEU’s needed for structural pest control license.

  • Reviews daily activity records.

  • Coordinates staffing levels.

  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

  • Performs related duties as required.

  

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related experience.

Pest Control License as certified by the Texas Pest Control Board.

 

 EQUIPMENT:

All tools and power equipment associated with grounds maintenance

Standard office equipment for basic computer access and e-mail

 

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Outside working conditions.  May be exposed to inclement weather
