Job Summary:
To provide professional dietetic skills in the planning and service of nutritionally balanced meals for patients.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Confers with medical staff as to the dietary or nutritional needs of the patient.

Prepares special diet menus for patients requiring special dietary treatment.

Reviews hospital diet file for prescribed therapeutic diets and reviews them where possible.

Calculates and devises therapeutic diets to achieve desired ends for non- routine diets.

Reviews proposed diets with attending physicians.

Transmits diet menus to diet kitchen.

Supervises the serving of special diet food.

Conducts informal training to student nurses on the theory and practical application of therapeutic dietetics.

Makes rounds of wards during the serving of meals to ensure quality control procedures.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field and one year related experience. Internship required along with RD registration.
Equipment:
Standard food preparation equipment and materials.
Working Environment:
Standard food preparation for hospital or clinical environment.
