Job Summary:
To provide supervisory and enforcement skills in the commissioned law enforcement services of The University of Texas System.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Supervises and participates in the patrol of the property of The University of Texas System by vehicle or on foot.
- Investigates criminal offenses.
- Accompanies patrolmen on assignments in order to review performance.
- Reviews and approves patrolmen's reports.
- Orientates new employees in department procedure and informs subordinates of change in policies and regulations.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
High school equivalent and a minimum of sixty semester hours. An applicant may fulfill this college requirement by substituting one of the following: Thirty semester college hours and one year of continuous employment as a Police Guard by a component institution within The University of Texas System or two years of active military service and one year of continuous employment as a guard by a component institution within The University of Texas System.
Must have two years experience as a commissioned police officer of The University of Texas System, possess Intermediate Certification from The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and successfully pass an approved proficiency examination, administered by the Director of Police. Must hold a Peace Officer Commission - UT System, a valid Texas Class C driver's license, and a certificate in First Aid training.
Equipment:
Standard law enforcement equipment and vehicles.
Working Environment:
Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Position may be hazardous.

subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.

qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
