JOB SUMMARY: To attend and satisfactorily complete a 23 week training program at the University of Texas System Police Academy in Austin, Texas, qualifying for commissioning as a Peace Officer of the University of Texas System. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Must reach his/her 21st birthday on the date of commissioning. High School Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 60 semester college hours. In Lieu of 60 college hours, 30 semester college hours plus 2 years of active military service with honorable discharge, or 30 semester college hours plus one year of continuous employment as a Police Guard by a component institution within the University of Texas System Must pass Written Exam, Physical Agility, Polygraph, Psychological, Medical, Drug Screening, Oral Exam and thorough Background Check. Must possess a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License. EQUIPMENT: Standard law enforcement equipment and vehicles. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Position may be hazardous. Possible exposure to adverse weather conditions. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
