Job Summary:
Manage the Office of Research Compliance and Reporting, under the university
Research Compliance Officer, with the implementation and maintenance of the
Research Compliance Program. Monitor and report on risk areas within research
which are identified with the University's Compliance Plan.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Manages monitoring and reporting responsibilities of the research risk areas as
identified in the Research

Compliance Program and within UTMB's Compliance Plan.

Evaluates current procedures, policies and practices to develop and implement
alternate methods designed to promote compliance with regulatory requirements.

Evaluates ongoing training needs and assists Research Services with the
development of training programs designed to promote compliance with regulatory
requirements.

Interacts with and builds good working relationships with UTMB management at
both a senior and departmental level on an ongoing basis and through such
activities as serving on institutional task forces and committees.

Assists in the annual risk assessment process and in the development of annual
and long range research compliance plans for presentation to the Institutional
Compliance Committee.

Assists in other administrative areas such as external audit liaison and quality
assurance management.

Directs the centralized administrative support operations for the research
entity, implements departmental policies and liaisons with division directors
and managers on staffing needs.

Supervises staff and work assignments.

Works on special projects at the request of executive leadership of Research
Services.

Attends professional meetings and maintains certifications as appropriate.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent and four years of related experience with legal,
regulatory and compliance environment. Experience in university setting
preferred.
Equipment:
Standard office equipment.
Working Environment:
Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.
Other:
