JOB SUMMARY:
Provides expertise to bridge
the use of human and non-human simulation applications in learning and
assessment in the School of Medicine. Trains and monitors standardized patients
for learning and assessment applications; collaboratively develops/refines SP
cases; collaborates with SOM faculty to design and implement non-human
simulation applications in SOM curricula.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Oversees all
affairs of the UTMB Austin Standardized Patient (SP) Program, including
developing strategic direction, monitoring and planning budget, and managing
staff.

Plans, designs,
develops and delivers educational activities, courses, and examinations for the
SP Program.

Works with the
Administrative Associate to recruit, schedule, and train standardized patients
for purposes of education and testing.

Coordinates and
collaborates with other educational programs to develop educational activities,
courses, and examinations.

Coordinates and
collaborates with the Galveston Standardized Patient Program to establish
evaluation methodologies to ensure effective testing and educational
experiences.

Adheres to
internal controls.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provides
sign-off for medical students on point-of-care testing requirements.

Maintains
simulation equipment inventory; oversees equipment maintenance and repair.

Oversees
teaching of basic clinical and procedural skills using simulators and models.
