JOB SUMMARY:
To manage the Trauma Registry Database in
collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager. This includes developing and
updating database maintenance, data validation, identification of trends to
improve outcomes for trauma patients. Maintain an ongoing injury Prevention
Program through education of the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Maintains the Trauma Registry Database and
oversees processes to abstract the data/information.

Maintains and protects patient
confidentiality.

Checks and verifies accuracy and
completeness of data that has been entered.

Performs concurrent/retrospective data
abstraction and data entry.

Prepares summary reports and revises
collection and coding procedures under supervision of the Trauma Program
Manager and Trauma Medical Director.

Performs complex analysis of trauma data.

Coordinates the collection of data for
reporting to state and national registries.

Identifies trends in trauma data to identify
high risk populations in order to develop injury prevention programs.

Develops public awareness by presenting and
coordinating educational programs on injury prevention for communities.

Monitors effectiveness of injury prevention
programs and outcomes of trauma care.

Participates in hospital, community and
State endeavors to promote injury prevention.

Participates in the East Texas Gulf Coast
Regional Advisory Council and the Governor’s Emergency Trauma Advisory
Council.

Develops and present presentations to
internal and external customers

Adheres to internal controls established for
the department.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree or equivalent in related field and two years of experience
required.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:
Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. Will
require in-state travel in order to promote injury prevention. Ability to meet
strict deadlines and work stressful environments.
OTHER:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
