Job Summary:
To provide administration and coordination of all translation or interpretation related functions for UTMB. Translation-Related
Duties:
-
Coordinates translation services for the Institution.
-
Accurately translates letters, forms, medical reports, research papers, legal documents, contracts, transcripts, diplomas, certificates, video and audio tapes from English to Spanish and Spanish to English as required.

Coordinates and conducts Medical Terminology training courses.

Recommends training programs to meet departmental needs.

Develops training objectives, develops lesson plans, prepares presentations and visual aids for training programs.

Provides training and translation services for the International Medical Program.

Provides direction to assigned personnel including training and orienting as required. Solves work-related problems and maintains productivity.

Performs related duties as required.
Interpretation-Related
Duties:
-
Coordinates interpretation services for the Institution to include recruitment, assessment and placement of UTMB and community volunteer interpreters.

Develops training objectives, develops lesson plans, prepares presentations and visual aids for training programs.

Teaches Basic Spanish, Medical Terminology and Interpreting Techniques.

Recommends training programs to meet departmental needs.
-
Provides direction to assigned personnel including training and orienting as required. Solves work-related problems and maintains productivity.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Health Care, related field or equivalent. One year related experience. Must be able to speak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently.
Equipment:
Standard classroom equipment.
Working Environment:
Standard classroom environment. May be required to teach in a clinical environment.
