Job Summary:
To provide supervisory and highly technical skills for illustration projects of advanced complexity.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Formulates concepts and supervises support personnel engaged in layout design or medical illustration.

Discusses projects of subordinates at various stages of completion and recommends changes as needed.

Reviews final layout and either makes changes or approves the projects.

Supervises and participates in the design of art and copy layouts for medical phenomena to be presented in visual communications media such as books, magazines, newspapers, television, leaflets, and brochures.

Studies illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of material, product or service.

Meets with faculty members, research personnel, and affiliated agencies to determine their needs regarding exhibits or illustrations.

Constructs and supervises the construction of teaching models in plaster, wax, plastics, and other material to show anatomy, physiology and various parts of the body.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and three years related experience.
Equipment:
Standard equipment used for medical illustration production.
Working Environment:
Standard office and art room environment.
Other:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
Any qualifications to be
considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval
