JOB SUMMARY: 

To provide highly specialized illustrative and/or supervisory skills for projects of above average complexity. 

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: 

  • Prepares final illustrations, drawings, diagrams, and models to illustrate medical and surgical findings and procedures in leaflets, bulletins, posters, announcements, brochures, exhibits and other such media.
  • Confers with department heads, faculty members, research personnel, or affiliated agencies regarding assignments, and advises as to the most suitable method to be employed to achieve desired results.
  • Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, arranges layout based on available space, knowledge of layout procedures, and esthetic design concepts.
  • Constructs teaching models in plaster, wax, plastics, and other materials to show anatomy, physiology, and various parts of the body.
  • Participates in and supervises the production of drawings of surgical procedures, anatomical specimens, or other assigned projects.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor degree or equivalent in related field and one year related experience. 

EQUIPMENT: 

Standard equipment used for medical illustration production. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Standard multimedia environment.
