JOB SUMMARY: 

To create illustrations of limited complexity for use in medical, research, and teaching communications media. 

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: 

• Draws, paints, or constructs illustrations for use in various media.
• Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy.
• Prepares rough sketches and preliminary drawings for review by senior illustrator.
• Prepares drawings, charts, diagrams, and graphic figures of limited complexity using crayon, pen, water color, or any other illustrative media.
• Prepares illustrations of cells, plant and animal tissues, and other material as seen under a microscope.
• Letters and lays out charts, tables, and graphs.
• Maintains files of research data and unusual medical occurrences, available to physicians, researchers, and faculty.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

Associate's degree or equivalent in related field and no experience. 

EQUIPMENT: 

Standard equipment used for medical illustration production. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Standard multimedia environment.
