Job Summary:
The position facilitates the gathering of noteworthy achievements in science on campus and helps translate and disseminate that information through science magazines, newsletters, news releases and other communications to various media.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Works with advisory boards to identify topics to be featured in publications.

Researches and writes the majority of the text to be published.

Works with the Director of Communications to assign and direct the development of articles written by others.

Edits articles and facilitates the appropriate administrative and source reviews.

Collaborates with writers, art director, and publications director to generate ideas for photographs and illustrations.

Reviews all news releases and other written communications to media concerning potential news or feature articles on science developments and research at UTMB.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

All other duties as assigned.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field and four years related experience.
Equipment:
Standard office equipment.
Working Environment:
Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.
Other:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to

Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
