JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the development and management of business development opportunities within the Office of Continuing Education. The position will include the development, management and evaluation of activities to identify potential commercial supporters. The position will act as a liaison between commercial supporters and the Activity Course Director and Conference Coordinator in the identification and application process for educational grants and other funding sources. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Develops new and manages on-going working relationships within the Medical School, local medical/educational communities and commercial supporters that promote business growth and development. Creates partnerships with organizations and companies involved in CME including pharmaceutical companies, other commercial supporters, related product and service vendors. Research new drug studies and product launches in order to match commercial supporters with the best CME activity for their support. Generates increased program volume and associated revenue based on relationship building and institutional and community education. Actively seeks and promotes opportunities for new CME activities. Develops and manages the CME commercial support processes. Utilizes new information technology to develop and support current and new CME programs. Understands and applies the CME guidelines and standards. Insures the compliance with current guidelines and policies for commercial support of CME programs. Adheres to internal controls established for department. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and three years related experience. EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard office environment. Some travel throughout the Galveston and Houston region, Texas and outside the state.
