JOB SUMMARY: This position’s primary responsibility is to identify how the university can best meet the needs of the referring physicians and their patients in the communities UTMB serves and then develop appropriate strategies to meet those needs. This person provides a critical connection for referring physicians, their staff, and their patients through personal office visits, written correspondence, telephone calls, faxes, email and other communication and outreach activities. Regularly reports to and communicates with UTMB faculty and staff, alumni and leadership. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Works with appropriate Faculty Group Practice and Office of Planning & Marketing leadership and staff to plan, develop and implement appropriate strategic physician relations, communications and promotional plans. · Works with OPM Market Analysis to help conceive, direct, contract and conduct market analysis research to evaluate the effectiveness of UTMB’s clinical marketing activities. · Develops effective working relationships with UTMB alumni, community physicians, and community and business leaders in the Houston-Galveston region (as well as other markets, as needed) · Serves as the initial and primary point of contact for external constituents listed above; serves as the communication link between external constituencies and UTMB faculty and staff to identify and address access and/or communication breakdowns and ensure a system is in place that is responsive to the needs of referring physicians and patients. · Plans and coordinates meetings between UTMB faculty and community physicians · Provides timely reports re: community activity to UTMB faculty and staff · Assists in the creation and ongoing support of a UTMB Community Health Care Advisory Board · Works with appropriate Faculty Group Practice, University Advancement and Office of Planning & Marketing staff to communicate with key constituencies about UTMB programs and initiatives · Works with Office of Planning & Marketing staff to create appropriate communication/promotional plans targeted at referring physicians and patients · Responsible for producing and updating physician-related content for the university’s utmbhealthcare.org clinical web site · Works closely with both Faculty Group Practice and Office of Planning & Marketing staff to ensure all activity is aligned with each office’s respective goals · Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communication. Four years of professional experience working with or for private medical practices. EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard office environment at UTMB’s main campus or other location. Ability to travel to various clinic locations.
