JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee the activities for
the development, establishment and operation of the Southeast Regional
Texas-Science Technology Engineering and Math Center, (T-STEM). Serve as a
catalyst and advocate for systemic change in T-STEM education for intermediate
and secondary students and teachers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work in collaboration with regional school
districts to develop and promote research based curricula and programs to
achieve the T-STEM goals.

Work with a wide range of departments and
individuals within UTMB and community based organizations to promote and
ensure stakeholder involvement as part of the T-STEM effort.

Promote the Southeast Regional T-STEM (SRT)
Center at national, local, and regional conferences and events.

Raise funds to make the Center self
sustaining which includes writing grant applications to major funding
sources, soliciting donations from businesses and the Southeast Regional
T-STEM (SRT) Center Foundation.

Establish services and products that will
be used on a “pay for fee” basis.

Ensure program activities are completed in a timely manner. Identify problem
areas and address them to ensure timely and effective program progress to
achieve goals.

Effectively work with other regional T-STEM Center Associates and
collaborators to achieve mutual goals.

Oversee and manage grant budget ensuring that activities are executed within
budgetary constraints and in compliance with all applicable rules,
regulations and laws.

Develop strategic plan, submit grant progress reports and write renewal
grant applications for additional grant funding.

Attend T-STEM meetings and conferences required by the grant.

Form regional STEM partnerships, schools of vertical learning communities
and a cadre of STEM Teacher Leaders and Teacher Fellows.

Establish an electronic STEM Solutions Network for building virtual
connections among participants.

Develop and present STEM professional development and curriculum design
institutes

Recruit in-service, pre-service, and adjunct teachers to STEM field
experiences and teaching opportunities

Dissemination of research based practices
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in Science Education or related
field and 3 years of experience with the
design and management of outreach programs.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard hospital, clinical,
laboratory and/or office environments.

Office/lab environment off UTMB
campus.
·
Must travel to conferences,
meetings as required, both within Texas and Nationally.
May be exposed to such occupational hazards
such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or
combative patients. Describe travel requirements
and other physical demands of job.
