JOB SUMMARY:

Provides consultation, guidance, and training related to cultural and professional development programs to build employee/leadership competencies, satisfaction and reduce turnover.  Assists in the goal of creating an educated, committed and vibrant workforce utilizing the existing institutional Organizational Development, Employee Development, Recognition and Process/Quality resources and fill in identified gaps with customized development solutions.  Ensures the quality of Institutional and CMC specific programs through effective needs assessment, design, evaluation and learning reinforcement. Employee advocate who will escalate situations, issues or behaviors that are counterproductive to a professional workplace and follows through to outcome. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to the success of Correctional Managed Care.
  • Provides leadership, consultation and guidance to managers and employees regarding development, recognition and process related issues.
  • Acts as an employee advocate and assists employees in finding creative ways to address/mediate concerns while maintaining confidentiality and acting as an impartial party.
  • Provides professional coaching to meet development needs of staff.
  • Conducts needs assessments to identify training and development concerns.
  • Assists in coordination of recognition events and programs.
  • Assesses training and/or development needs and meets needs by delivering training or identifying appropriate resources.
  • Conducts interviews with employees and administers needs assessments and compiles data to evaluate needs and determine courses of action.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
  • Organizes and manages information, completes written reports of work encounters and provides data analysis of program outcomes.
  • Facilitates presentations, training programs, retreats, and meetings. Coordinates team building programs.
  • Monitors metrics such as employee satisfaction, turnover data, and grievance data and submits action plans regarding such data.

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Social Work and 2 years of direct and related experience.

EQUIPMENT:

Standard personal computer and office equipment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard office environment.  This position requires a high degree of visibility and interaction with managers and employees working in correctional facilities located through the state.  Travel required.

OTHER:

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
